Christmas 2012
Another Christmas is upon us and another year has flown by. Firstly many thanks to all of you who have supported our venture into ‘DVD land’. Sales of our first DVD have been so encouraging that we plan another in the new year.

One track which will certainly be featured on it is the latest recording the boys have come up with, a sloppy sentimental ballad with a twist in the lyrics. It’s called “Dear John” and is all about a soldier who receives the dreaded letter, (as you’d expect!) Listen closely to the words and see if you can ‘work it out’.

No doubt someone will be putting it on youtube as soon as we release it but if you want a proper master quality CD of it, labelled and sleeved of course, then keep your eye on our sales page. As an added bonus the boys will gladly sign your copy if required.

Well, that’s about it for 2012, all that remains is for me to wish you all a very merry Christmas and a happy new year.

All the best Bill B.

Autumn 2012
We are now quickly approaching the 40th anniversary of Lieutenant Pigeon getting to number one in the pop charts. The actual anniversary is October 10th so that’s the day we’ll be launching the new Lieutenant Pigeon DVD. The boys will be cramming on as much as possible onto this DVD and production is in the safe hands of our own publicist ‘Ginger’ Simon Shaw. It will contain an interview with Rob and Nigel by pop historian and journalist Pete Chambers. There will also be some great songs, plus the performance of ‘Happy Go Lucky Me’ filmed earlier in the year. It should be a memento to keep and treasure for all genuine fans of the boy’s music.

If we can arrange an ‘official launch’ somewhere where the public can turn up and share the day with the boys, I will announce it in the next few weeks.

What a day September 4th turned out to be! At 6pm BBC2 repeated the episode of Eggheads which featured ‘our Nige’, then later that evening, ITV1 broadcast a tribute programme to the 1970s series ‘The Sweeney’. Throughout the programme various 1970s records were played in the background so it wasn’t particularly surprising when ‘Mouldy Old Dough’ turned up. However, to our astonishment, they also played ‘Slippery Rock’! Slippery Rock featured on the sound track of the smash 2007 film “Hot Fuzz” and since then interest in the track has grown and grown. Many people are now familiar with the song but I wonder how many people realise it’s Stavely Makepeace!

More soon, Bill B.

Summer 2012
Well, the Lieutenant Pigeon pop video, (or DVDs as they are now known), is complete. Watch out for news of this on our pages. It will probably be released to coincide with the 40th anniversary of MOULDY OLD DOUGH getting to number one in October. We hope to have three tracks, two featuring Rob and Nige in action, plus an up to date interview with the boys.

The May 7th date for outside filming was a washout as the heavens opened, but thanks to the genius of our publicist, Ginger Simon, all was not lost and the boys did the filming inside the Albany social club. (Many thanks to them too). Also a big thank you to Phil Packham of the ‘Sorrows’ who stepped in at the eleventh hour to play bass.

The “Previously Unissued” album was released recently and a flood of orders, (like the floods we’ve had this summer!),has already come in. Apologies if you have to wait a week or two for your copy but we promise each and every order will eventually be honoured.

That’s all for now. Fingers crossed that August and September are a little drier!

Bill B.

Easter 2012
Sorry for the ‘quiet’ spell at the start of this year, it hasn’t really been packed with activity so far anyway. Perhaps the most exciting thing is the announcement that the boys will be producing a video to go with “Happy Go Lucky Me”. With luck we’ll be able to issue it as a DVD through our sales page in the summer. It will be filmed partly in a studio and partly during the Earlsdon (Coventry) Festival at the beginning of May in the street. If you want to feature in the video, just turn up on May 7th at the festival and bring along your dancing feet and your most colourful clothes.

Also due for release in the summer is another CD of previously unissued Pigeon and Makeapeace tracks. Some real gems to look forward to here!

All for now. Bill B.
